Under Cover in Plain Sight

So this week I was out watering the veggies I have growing in our small garden. We were gone for a while and I had my MIL take care of them, but I hadn't checked on them since we had been back. They seem to be looking well.

Then the other day my husband and I were mowing the lawn and I rushed in the house to get my camera. I had seen these beautiful flowers and wanted to snap a picture before they had been mowed down.

Aren't they pretty? I thought so.

While I was mowing I stopped and looked at the trees at the back of our house. They are Magnolia's, of which I am not a fan. And to my surprise hidden in some of the leaves were these magnificent seed pods. I do not believe I've ever even taken the time to look that closely at them since I really do not like the smell of the Magnolia flower.

Then after we were done watering the big garden and mowing the lawn I had to hook the hose up to water our herb baskets that hang on our back deck. While I was out there I had to move one of the HUGE elephant ear leaves so it wouldn't be in the way. And lo and behold I found a friendly green visitor.

Do you see him? He's a tree frog I think. He has those little balls at the end of his toes and he was sticking upside down later to the deck gate.

So how was your week? Did you have any surprises in nature that were just hidden in plain sight? I'd love to hear about your finds. I'm sure that Betty over at Peace Creek on the Prairie would love to hear from you too. See ya next week!

Thanks for your comment, Kelly! I love your pictures, especially the frog and the flowers from the lawn. I am the type who would have mowed around them. Flowers are my soft spot in lawn maintenance. :o)

Peace and Laughter,
Cristina
