Drive Thru History "Acts to Revelation" - A New TOS Review!!

We love Drive Thru History®️ and we were so excited to receive the newest series Drive Thru History®️  "Acts to Revelation" with our favorite tour guide Dave Stotts. We get to drive around with Dave (in a new car, not Steve McQueen) travelling through historical Biblical towns, cities, and locations, while delving into the Scriptures pertinent to that time as well as travelling along the same roads as Peter, Paul, Barnabus, Timothy and many others as they spread the Gospel of the Lord Jesus from Jerusalem to the ends of the world.
Hardback booklike cover and full color DVD slipcover

This is what you get when you have begin with the 3 DVD set of  Drive Thru History®️  "Acts to Revelation". It contains over 9 hours of viewing  - a sneak peek into the life of "The World of the First Christians"; a continuation of the prior series that covered the Gospels. You can see our review of "The Gospels" here.

There are 18 episodes that take you from the opening scene of Acts 1 all the way through the end of the Bible in Revelation. Along the way we see the Gospel begin to spread from Jerusalem to the Gentiles; we go along with Paul on his 3 missionary journeys strengthening and encouraging the church; and then on to the martydom of the biggest contributors to the Gospel reaching the ends of the other and even to Patmos where John receives the words of Revelation.

Along the way, we see from the comfort of our own homes, what these historical cities and places look like, emersed in the culture surrounded by beautiful cinematography that helps you feel like you are really there. Add to that hearing (and seeing as they scroll across the screen) the Scriptures read and understanding the problems or situations of the day to bring these times of the Bible to life. We have travelled from Jerusalem to places like Turkey, Malta (which I hope to go see - Bucket List), Antioch, Galatia, Rome and Athens. We have also seen Hadrian's Gate, the Road to Damascus, and even the place where the stoning of Stephen took place and it all felt like we were right there. Goose Bumps!

Not only do you have the ~30 minutes long episodes, each has a coordinating study guide. The DVD's come in a beautiful hard back case that looks like a book. When you open it you see the DVD's flanking beautiful glossy full color illustrated pictures that includes the Title with a pertinent Scripture verse and reference, a Summary, Discussion Questions followed by additional references for further reading of that part of the Bible, and a Side Road. These "side roads" are interesting places or people that give further information.

The study guide would be perfect for using in a small group setting. First you could go over the summary and the beginning Scripture, then watch the episode. followed by the discussion questions. Then for homework everyone could do further reading or research on the time period discussed in the episode. And because of the engaging and entertaining way the DVD's have been created, they will appeal to all ages.

Answers in the back

We decided to watch these as a family so several nights a week it would be our dinnertime entertainment. Then after each episode, dad would be in charge of asking the discussion questions. Then we would delve into some fun discussions as a family and tell our favorite parts from each episode. Before the viewing we'd sometimes read the summary, but we really liked just jumping right in. Wouldn't it be cool to travel the world following the Bible as a guide? I think so!

An interesting man they met who is a throat singer. We got to listen to his version of the theme song.
All of my children think Mr. Dave is super funny. My middle schooler loves travelling along with Mr. Dave and seeing all the Biblical places. She also likes how he reads and shows the verses of the Bible after telling us a little history.  My son says it would be good for little kids as well as adults. "It explains a lot of stuff about the Bible. And since it has a study part with it we can all learn about the Bible together. Mr. Dave is funny too. That makes it fun to watch. I also like the maps he shows when he's travelling."

My high schooler says "It's very similar to the one we watched about The Gospels. I'm glad he finished the story by starting with Acts and going through to the end of the Bible in Revelation.  I knew that Paul and Barnabas were travelling together, but then I didn't realize they had split and went different ways and both continued to preach to the Gentiles. I had thought Barnabas just stopped and went home to his family. I like that Mr. Dave travels to the different places so we can get a visual of the missionary journeys of Paul as well as other Biblical places we've read about. I also like that the maps are part of the visual representation ... and that he shows us what the places look like now and how they are different names, but the places are still in existence. The pictures that they add to it are fun and humurous ... like the wolf chasing him on the secondary road for one of Paul's journeys."

This is a perfect way to take a journey through the Bible and really SEE the world of the Bible. We HIGHLY RECOMMEND this series!
