The Grace Card - DVD Review AND Giveaway!!

Recently, I had the opportunity to review a copy of The Grace Card, which was released on DVD today.  I did not really know much about this movie so I did not have any expectations.  But, I was excited to see Louis Gossett Jr. as a supporting actor since he is one of my favorite actors.

The film revolves around a family who has seen some very hard and terrible times and seem to be just barely hanging onto their life as they know it.  The father, Mac McDonald, as a police officer who has a somewhat volatile temperament both at home and at work.  His bitterness and resentment toward life stem from a painful tragedy that occurred some 17 years prior.

To compound issues even more, Mac is teamed up with a new partner, Sam Wright.  Sam has just recently been promoted causing strife and happens to be a part-time pastor.

Meanwhile, Mac's wife and son, Blake, are steadily falling further and further apart from him.  Blake is a senior in high school who does not feel loved or cared for by his father and therefore takes a path that ends in a devastating accident.  If you want to see a bit more about this movie, be sure and check out their trailer.

I found this movie very moving and heartfelt.  Although the situation in the lives of the McDonald's was devastating you see how God was able to use it to not only heal brokenness and rebuild relationships, but also to teach about grace ... God's grace.  I cried at numerous times in the movie and really felt the grace of God being poured out in the lives of the characters.

This movie is the first from Graceworks Pictures based out of Memphis and it is modeled after Sherwood Pictures (who did Fireproof.) I urge you to check out The Grace Card and learn more about the why behind the making of this movie.

my fave scripture about grace is

1 Peter 5:10

And after you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, will Himself perfect, confirm, strengthen and establish you.
