Traintastic!

Well, the other day, as many of you probably already read, my son turned 2!  His favorite cartoon lately has been Chuggington.  It's a cute little show about trainees that are learning all about riding the rails in Chuggington.  They are very cute shows.  Here's a short clip of their theme song.

Anyways, I was planning on making a cake similar to the red train, but at the last minute I changed my mind. I didn't think I had the right pans for it (or the skill level ... yet.) But while out shopping I came across a train pan. So I went with that.

So here are a few pictures of the cake as I we were working on it.  [My husband is my very best baking assistant and his buttercream is better then mine.... just don't tell him I told you. :) ]

I think they turned out pretty good.  And at the party all the children (my 3 and their cousin) each got a train.  They thought it was the best.  He also got some Chuggington trains and tracks.  We went and exchanged them today since we were hoping to get these interactive ones.  They talk to each other!  Can you imagine?!?  The girls love them too and today they were playing with them as soon as we got back home.

I think these will be getting a lot of practice on the tracks.
