Who is George - A DNG Review

It's February.  And this month is packed full of holidays, including the birth of the first president of the United States of America.  So I was very pleased to be able to review another Download-N-Go title -- George Washington.

Over the past week my daughters have learned quite a lot about this amazing man.  At the time he left the office of president there were only 16 stars on our flag.  Things have changed a lot since 1789.  We also learned that he had a horse for a pet, he was a farmer, a soldier, married a widow and lived in Virginia.

One of Arianna's favorite parts this time was the journaling.  She spent some time each day writing on the journal pages included in the study, just like George Washington did.

One of my favorite parts was being able to read her journal entries.  They were precious. :)  I also enjoyed the focus on character throughout this unit.  I think as a homeschooling parent one of the most important lessons to teach your children is to be full of good character.  And what a better way to show why good character is important then by examining the life of the first president of our country.

Each DNG unit is set up for 5 days of information and can easily be spread over more time.  These units are designed for K-4, but there are definitely ways to 'stretch' the unit to older kids also. This particular unit on George Washington has over 80 pages of fun and learning all for the low cost of $7.95.

George Washington's unit will cover:
Day 1: Who Was George Washington?
Day 2: People and Places in George Washington's Life
Day 3: The Accomplishments of George Washington
Day 4: Lessons to Learn From George Washington
Day 5: Remembering George Washington

So if you are looking for a way to liven up your history or if you are wanting to take a break from your 'regular' curriculum, this would be a great time AND a great study to work on.  So head on over to Download-N-Go and pick up your copy of George Washington.
