Smart Kidz Radio ~ A New TOS Review!

Until recently I had never heard of Smart Kidz Media and currently they have a brand new edutainment offering that has songs and stories for kids called Smart Kidz Radio. Let me tell you a little bit about it.

First it's FREE! It is an online kids radio station that can be streamed on your computer and recently can also be accessed through IOS App or Android App and on multiple devices. Smart Kids Radio was designed for little listeners as little as three years old up to twelve. The songs are original and created to teach life lessons (like the please and thank you song or the being helpful to others song) and to teach good character traits (like the good behavior songs). There are hundreds of these songs and all promoting positive values.

We listened to a variety of them. Most my son enjoyed, but he did feel that they were created for younger listeners like his 4 and 6 year old cousins. He thought they would both have a lot of fun listening to the songs.

There are also podcasts that are all ranging between 15 and 30 minutes in length. These are similar to audio stories with multiple character voices that were very engaging. And during the story there was music to go along (like you have in a movie) to help draw you into the stories.) It includes well-known stories like Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk, and Three Musketeers. There are some shorter ones as well (less than 5 minutes) like Itsy- Bitsy Spider and The Sharing Song. We've had the most fun listening to these stories. I hope that they continue to add more to this section ... I know even my older girls would like to listen to them. And while he listens he can color or play with his Legos or cars and I can have a few minutes to get something done.

Sometime in the near future, Smart Kids Radio will also have an "On-Demand" membership program. You will get membership only programming for a monthly fee of $3.99 or $39.90 annually. We mostly listened to this via the computer while we were doing other tasks. I just logged in and had it playing while my son was in the same room. All the songs we listened to had a catchy tune and were upbeat. My son started to mimic the song after hearing just a few lines. So even though he felt they were too young for him, he still enjoyed them enough to keep listening. He did however ask if we could just listen to it when it was just the two of us ... maybe so his older sisters wouldn't say anything about the songs. I think they would sing along too, but we are a pretty musically inclined family.
