A little while ago I read on a few blogs that I follow that they were going to embark on reading the Bible through from cover to cover in 90 days. I had heard about this program before, but I really felt that this was something that I thought I should do. I actually thought it may be something Stephen and I should do together.
When I spoke to Stephen about it, he told me as long as I was willing to be the one reading it, the he was game for it. The reason he said I'd have to be the reader is because I am a very quick reader and with him back in school again for his spring semester of grad school he wouldn't have the extra time needed to dedicate to the amount of reading.
So I finally decided to sign up for it yesterday ... which was the day it started. When I filled out the form over at Mom's Toolbox I was told that all the groups had been filled (which I had sort of already figured they would be), but that I could just check in and "follow along" this time through. Reading the Scriptures all the way through is a very difficult task. Doing it in 90 days seems almost improbable. Almost.
Last night, I received an email from my new group leader. When I filled out the form, I saw that on of the co-captains of the TOS Homeschool Crew, Heidi, was on there, so I decided to request to be on her team. Guess what?! Heidi saw that I (and a few others) were latecomers and was delighted to add us to her mentoring team. Heidi has already accomplished the Bible in 90 days. Way to go!
So I'm a little behind in reading, but nothing I can't 'catch us up' in just a few days by adding a little bit extra each day. Now before I head off ( to go read some more and try to catch up a little) I want you to know that you can still join in. Head on over to this blog post at Mom's Toolbox and she tells you all the ins and outs even though their mentor are at capacity. If you need encouragement and want to tag along with me leave me a comment and I'll be sure to check in on you.
Reading the Bible is a great way to connect to God. Doing it in 90 days is doable. Hundreds have proved that already. You can do it. And you will be able to grasp the "big picture" so to speak by reading through the Bible as a 'story' rather then an in depth study. So go for it. By the end of today you should be at Genesis 28:19. So go for it. I believe you can do it!

Yeah! I'm glad you got to have a mentor, that it is Heidi who you already know is just icing on the cake. I'm enjoying Debra's encouragement. This is already so very different from how I have read the Bible before.
I am doing this as well and I am in Heidis/your group as well. My oldest daughter and I are doing this together.
