We LOVE This Science - A New TOS Review!!

I love when my children are enthusiastic about school.  That feeling that I get when I hear "Mom, can we do ...!" or "Can we watch another one." or "Please, just ONE more!" is another reason we homeschool.  And these are some of the sentences that we have heard since being on the review for Amazing Science! a new offering from Science and Math.com. They were/are awesome

The Product:
Amazing Science!videos are truly amazing.  I had a video of my children telling you that, but unfortunately it is not cooperating and letting me load it on here.  So instead I'm going to show you this introductory video from their website:

This first volume has 2 disks that each have at least 10 video clips (a total of 23) covering the areas of heat, electricity, surface tension, magnetism, air pressure, and more.  The video can be purchased as a hard copy - DVD ($19.95 - a 20% savings over the actual retail price) or as a download ($17.95).
Each experiment is shown from various angles so that you have the experience of being right there.  And to make things even better you can recreate the videos at home very easily.  And another member of the crew has put together a materials list for each of the 23 videos to help make it easier for you!

Our Experience:
The day we received these videos my kiddos were revving to go!  And we started watching them right away.  And they have been a HUGE hit in our house from the oldest (mom) to the youngest (my son, who's just 3)!  Any program that can include all of us and teach us ALL something has got to be a program you want to check out.

And you will not be disappointed.  One of the things that surprised me the most was the attentiveness of my 3 year old.  I did not expect him to be as enthralled as he was/is.  You can see his attention clearly in this picture (sorry that it is a little dark, but we were watching them with the lights down low because it was right before bed.)

As you can see he REALLY was listening.  And this wasn't just a fluke.  He has done this every time they are on.  Here are some other pictures of the video he was watching.

The girls have been just as enthusiastic as Seanan has.  They have watched every one of them more then once and are just as amazed.  We haven't done many of the experiments first hand yet, but they have a list of the ones they want to try out to make sure they really happen like Scientist Jason says.  As I type this, I am getting ready to be out of town for a few days and on the "school to-do list" for dad is to do a few of these experiments.
My Thoughts:
I have been really impressed with the level of instruction in these videos and the way that they capture the attention of even the youngest listener.  My husband and I were also quite fond of the way the videos were presented.  At first the experiment is briefly introduced and then he shows the experiment.  Once the experiment has been completed, Scientist Jason goes into greater detail about all the science behind the specific experiment.

I know that my two girls have had conversations while we have been out and about that directly relate to something they learned in the video.  This is a true testament to the learning environment that has been created within these short videos.

I think that these videos are GREAT and would encourage anyone looking for some experiments that can be done at home without great efforts then this is the DVD for you!

Science and Math.com would love to hear from you and you can contact them directly by phone (877-MATH-DVD), fax, or send them an email.  You can find Scientist Jason (from the Amazing Science videos) on Twitter and the company on their Facebook page. Be sure to check out what other Crew members are saying.
